We started the evening with a nice steak and lobster dinner. Sure seems like they enjoyed it!
Kelli made a lovely New Year's cake
The kids made a music video and danced around. Later we played a game Scavenger Hunt that Matthew got for Christmas and it was pretty fun but very competitive. Right now the kids have just laid out their blankets and pillows and eating chips and dip. Overall, a pretty good night♥

My sister just got one for Christmas for her family, so we will have to go there and try it out!!
Kelli was excited because it features the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus. I was excited to see Fall Out Boy featured!

Who's that big guy in the red suit in our house?
As we drove up to the house, I exclaimed "I think I see Santa in our house". Unfortunately, the windows in the car were frozen shut and Kelli had to open the door to see what the fuss was all about. She let out a big screeeeeeam! (Hopefully the neighbors weren't woken up because it was 12:30 a.m.) We pulled in the driveway and Kelli and I hopped out of the car and ran to the window. Matthew and Katelyn were too scared and stayed in the car. I snapped a picture for evidence of our jolly intruder. He jumped by the sight of the flash and slipped out the back door. We knew he escaped that way because the next morning there were really big footprints in the snow. :) I couldn't get the kids to come into the house because they were scared that he might still be in the house. We drove around a little bit and when we returned we came in to find the presents from Santa sitting under the tree. After putting our P.J.'s on, everyone got to open up one present and off to bed we went :)Thursday, December 25, 2008

"Goodwill" hunting :)
Last night I found my own Christmas present at Goodwill. My husband wasn't thrilled with the idea of me buying my own gift but I thought it was so cute, I had to make it mine:)
It is a Liz Claiborne bag and it has lots of pockets and zippers and a cute little rhinestone closure on the front. I know, I sound like a dork and some people might think Ewww.. someone's used purse but I feel like I found a treasure:) Yes, it would've been nice to find $5000 stashed inside like some lucky people have found while shopping at Goodwill, but I only found a 2006 Milwaukee Brewers ticket, ponytail rubberband, paperclip, and starlight mint, Darn!
Ok, I just posted this pretty Coach purse because it caught my eye on someone else's blog and I saved the picture hoping that someday I would own one like it but (back to reality) Mine cost $392 less than this pretty Coach. I am happy with my purchase and would like to thank my darling family for my great new purse!

Thankful Thursday
I am going to have a great day! I am tired of being depressed and want to start fresh. My husband and teenage son seem to be helping the situation at home. We are trying to turn things around and make our family happier. We are trying to work together on respecting each other's feelings and that feels good. It's not me against everyone that I have been feeling lately. I felt hopeless and "wanted to leave". I know that is not something I like to admit but it was a true feeling I had. I contribute my change of heart to my blog friends who with their comments give new light to family dynamics. My Mom had spoken to me the other night and tried to help out, but when you have a closed heart it is hard to break through. I wanted to shut down and see how that felt to the people who hurt my feelings but I knew that in the end I would just be hurting myself. We all have to pitch in and work things out. I needed to start climbing out of that hole I was in. It's no fun staying in misery and I didn't want to fall in deeper. I love my family and I know that they love me too. Wanted: good thoughts and prayers :)
Unlike the majority of my posts that are funny and light-hearted, this one will probably suck. I am feeling very low today, rather depressed. I don't know who might read this but if at all possible could you send me some well wishes? I feel sad, angry, frustrated and confused about my life. All the blogs that I seem to read are of seemingly perfect families with wonderful husbands and always behaving and obedient children. I know that everyone has their ups and downs. I just feel stuck in a bad place right now. Not in love, not always respected as a parent. I have had clinical depression in the past and sometimes feel like "not being here" anymore. I have talked with my Mom and she has tried to help with words like "turn the negative into a positive" or to pray about it. I wish I was in that state of mind but I can't see through this right now. I have been arguing with my oldest about his failing grade and I feel disrespected. I try to help but just come off as a pain to him. I don't know what to do. It is so easy to post a joke or picture but another thing to be honest and it is kind of scary not knowing what complete strangers will think if you open up. There are people in my life that I miss. People I would like to be closer to. I would like to have a best friend. I would like to have a purpose in life. I would like a loving and happy husband who I can trust. I would like to be a great Mom. I have 4 children that I would like to raise happy and healthy and well adjusted. I feel like I am going through the motions day by day but never happy. I know that God gives me the opportunity to start new each day. If you have any words of wisdom could you please share them? Thank you
